The electric carb heater is not a replacement for the manual carb heat. On a Jab engine, the manual carb heat is a must. Electric carb only stops the ice from sticking, it will not clear it or prevent it. I have both on mine.
Cabin heating is extremely simple. It only consists of an air input which goes to an air box surrounding the exhaust. You then have a control cable in the cabin that merely opens a very simple valve allowing the warmed air in to the cabin. There is a complete kit available but, in my opinion, very over priced for what it actually is.
The standard cabin heater unmodified is not brilliant. It does warm it up a little but on a very cold day, it will still be coat and gloves.
