balance ball and 2 min pitch gauge

Postby Garyo » Thu Feb 26, 2015 2:00 pm

my balance ball does not have anything extra, but I see you can get an electric version with "2 min pitch"
question is what does the 2 min pitch mean, is it something to do with degrees of roll?

My guess is a standard balance/slip ball is just a ball in a liquid (a spirit level). The ones that show turn rate have a gyro in them which is why they need power.

gary ,

2 min (or 3 degrees per second) is the amount of time it takes for aircraft , in balance to turn 360 degrees. also known as the "standard rate of turn". from there you can work out the radius of turn ...

rad of turn (nautical miles) = true airspeed (knots) / rate of turn in degrees * 20 * pi

PPL stuff
