J-160 fuel filter

Postby Hurricane » Fri May 26, 2017 2:14 pm

I've just completed my first service on my J-160. I had intended changing the fuel filter, but have been unable to locate it so far. the manual says it might be behnfd the seats under the luggage area, or above the ruddet panels under the instrument panel. All my previous aircraft have been fitted with traditional gascolators in the engine bay. The gascolator seems a far more sensible way of achieving the desired effect, compared to a hidden fuel filter, which could easily stop the engine if it became blocked, and is far more difficult to inspect and service. Has anyone ever scrapped the in-line filter, and installed a gascolator on to the engine bay firewall?
