Camit 40 Amps alternator

Postby Kai Lyche » Mon Jul 09, 2018 6:19 am

All,

Anybody on these pages have an installation manual (hard copy or digital) for the 40 Amps Camit alternator kit on the Jab 22A? Anything you could copy for me?

Thanks
Kai

Failed Camit generator.

Must admit that I unnoticed accidentally dropped a 4mm nut down the cooling fins into the stator. This caused the unit to fail.

So now I need a new unit: getting a replacement unit might not be impossible provided I knew on what vehicle it originally belonged, or what make and type of generator it is. My own unit has Camit stamped on the rectifier cover- and that’s it.

Anybody has any idea of further identification?

Thanks
Kai

New ones are possible and they are standard parts. I cannot remember the make of it but I am sure Deano will be along soon and I know he remembers it.

But it may be better to get your one repaired. Any alternator repair shop will be able to do it, nothing special about them. We had our one repaired for £30.

Well,

I can of course always hope, but it seems the housing is cracked and two of the cooling ribs are gone.

Lesson learnt: don’t inadverently drop 4mm nuts into this thing :(

Let’s hope Deano has some info.

Thanks

That's the exact one. You will have to remove the pulley and replace it with the one out of the CAMit alternator (make sure you secure the nut with 620 or a good thread lock compound).

You can get them repaired at sahibs.com (sahib a auto electrical).
