Screw holes for inspection covers

Postby BobMcManus » Sun Sep 30, 2018 2:15 am

My J250 was built in 2004. After a number of condition inspections the holes for the screws holding the inspection covers are getting large. Wondering what others have done to address this issue. Have looked at the possibility of using rivnuts, but am not sure if they will hold in the fiberglass.

Try using a touch of Araldite on the thread and don't overtighten screws when putting them back on. Once Araldite sets, the screw should be nicely held. the newly threaded Araldite should last a while. Alternatively, use rivnuts but beware when tightening/torquing up as they do end up loosening off.
