Bendix Housing Cracked

Postby skypics234 » Sat Aug 10, 2019 11:15 pm

I have just 28 hours on my Gen 4 2200 and today I spotted a crack in the Bendix housing on the backside of the starter motor.

Have left a note for Nick at Jabiru Tennessee to tell me how I get a replacement. Should be covered by warranty.

I'll let the group know how it is handled.

LATER: Got the replacement which is the billet style used on the earlier generations. I like the looks better and believe it will stand up to the forces of the Bendix operation much better.

Re: Starter Motor Cracking

UPDATE and Correction;
It wasn't the starter motor, but the Bendix housing that cracked.

Jabiru is going to send me a replacement that is made from a billet instead of being cast. Should be stronger.

Later: Received the replacement. It looks better and stronger than the cast part. If you have the cast aluminum part on your new Gen 4 engine keep an eye on this area.
