Trim Handle Location

Being a short person, 1he trim handle is difficult for me to reach without moving the yoke as I reach down and end up changing the Jabiru's direction and/or altitude!

I see on the newer J230-SPs the trim handle has been raised such that its now easier to reach.

Does anyone have any experience on raising the trim handle?

Bear in mind that position of trim handle is pre set but moving it is not a big deal. Se image for bits that make up trim handle and mechanism ...

Just a matter of removing trim handles, pivot bush and stops (which may be riveted, bonded or screwed in), drilling a new hole through the centre console (use bush to determine size) and relocating trim handles. The teleflex cable should easily handle a little bending and old hole can be fiberglassed or covered with a small round panel. Ensure that you bond stops in new position (determine by checking up/down limits according to manual).

Diablo, thanks for the info and PIC.
My Jab is an SLSA. I wonder if that means I need an A&P to do the job.

Here is the definition and limitations of an SLSA aircraft ...

Aircraft manufacturers register the new aircraft we build as Special Light Sport Aircraft (SLSA). To keep the Special Airworthiness Certificate, the aircraft must stay in its factory configuration and be professionally maintained. No changes or modifications are allowed without factory approval. An SLSA can be used for hire. An owner can rent the SLSA aircraft to other pilots. An instructor or flight school can rent the SLSA to their students. When used for hire, the SLSA aircraft must have a condition inspection every 100 flight hours, same as other aircraft used commercially.
